By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
-Identify the goal of acute inpatient stroke care in hyperacute stroke units (HASU)
-Review the components and best practice models related to acute inpatient stroke care
-Identify the benefits of implementing a HASU
-Role of a nurse in monitoring stroke patients in HASU
-Outline the common and high risk medications used in acute treatment of stroke
-Describe the indication and main side effect of commonly used medications in HASU
-Describe the role of a nurse in safe administration of medications in HASU Stroke triage: role of triage nurse – triaging system – stroke triaging according to triaging system- triaging process – stroke scale or clinical tools used in stroke triaging.
